Today I went to Bolsena Lake again, this time with Jeremy, Sara, Paola, Valeria, and another girl whose name I don’t remember. We took a bus at about 12:30, arriving at about 1. When we got there, we bought a basketball-sized beach ball and went swimming. It was a totally different dynamic from last time, but it was really fun. We’d brought lunches, so after we’d cooled off a bit, we went to eat them and then went back into the water. We played a couple games – first, one where the ball was bounced from person to person, trying to keep it up in the air. If you were the seventh person to receive it, you had to either catch it or spike the ball at someone else. If you didn’t, you were out, if you hit someone with the spike, they were out. The other game was just volleyball with an invisible net. It was 3 on 3, Americans vs. Italians, but after a while we lost score, which was better.
At 5, the return bus came so we went back to the convent, cleaned up, and went to Orvieto for the folk festival. There were bands, vendors, and tons of people. The music varied from street to street, since there was a different band on every piazza. Some was jazz, some rock, some Italian, and some English. When we were done, we got a ride from one of our dig mates, Paolo, back to the convent. It was a long day, but fairly relaxing. Tomorrow’s plan is to go to church at the Duomo, then do more fold festival stuff and see who’s online.
